How to pay
Online applications take a debit or credit card. By post you can pay by card using the form in the pack, by cheque or by postal order made out to "HM Passport Office". At a Post Office Check and Send counter you can pay by card, cash or postal order made out to "Post Office Ltd" 1.
Processing times and how to apply
HM Passport Office says you will usually get your passport within 3 weeks of it receiving your documents. It may take longer if more information or an interview is needed 3.
You start an online application at passport.service.gov.uk/filter. Online is £13.50 cheaper than a paper form. You need a digital photo and a card. Post Office staff can take the photo as part of the digital Check and Send service 4.
If you are outside the UK, GOV.UK says you pay a different fee and points you to its overseas passports service. We could not confirm the overseas amounts from GOV.UK pages 1.
