Priority and Fast Track
Priority costs A$308 on top of the application fee and your passport is processed within 2 business days of receiving a complete application. Fast Track costs A$107 and processing takes 5 business days. Postage is not included 2.
These services are only for eligible customers in Australia. You cannot use them if you apply from overseas, have trouble proving your identity, apply for a child without full parental consent, or have lost 2 or more passports in 5 years 2.

How to pay
At Australia Post you can pay by EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa, AMEX or cash. Passport offices take EFTPOS, Mastercard and Visa only, with no cash. Overseas you usually pay in local currency, the same amount as the Australian dollar fee, by EFTPOS or credit card 1.
Processing times
The Passport Office says to allow at least 6 weeks from lodging. As at August 2026, above 97% of travel documents were available within 6 weeks. Child applications without full parental consent can take longer. Once posted by Registered Post, your passport should arrive in about a week 4.
How to apply
You can renew if your passport was issued when you were 16 or older, on or after 1 January 2006, with at least 2 years of validity, and your details have not changed. Otherwise you apply for a new passport, which needs a referee or guarantor and 2 passport photos 5.
You complete the form online at online.passports.gov.au, then lodge and pay at a participating post office 5,2.
