Ghana passport fees in 2026

A 32-page Ghana passport costs GH₵350 on regular service, and a 48-page passport costs GH₵644 2. Expedited service costs GH₵700 for 32 pages and GH₵800 for 48 pages 2. Premium service, for 48 pages only, costs GH₵2,000 and takes 24 to 48 hours 1,2. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the regular fee was cut from GH₵500 to GH₵350 1. Fees are non-refundable 1.

Older fees still online

A draft client service charter for the Passport Office, posted on the ministry website in January 2024, lists much lower fees of GH₵100 for a regular 32-page passport and GH₵150 for an express 32-page passport 6. It gives 10 working days for express and 21 working days for regular service 6. The passport portal figures above are newer and replace those amounts 1,2.

Renewal and children

The portal lists fees by service and number of pages only 2. It shows no separate child or renewal fee.

Express and premium service

Expedited service takes seven working days and premium service 24 to 48 hours 1. Premium is handled only at the premium application centre 1. Free delivery is available on all three services 1.

How to apply

You apply and pay online on the Ghana Passport Services portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1. All fees are non-refundable once you submit, so check your details before you pay 1. Since April 2025 Ghana issues chip passports that meet ICAO standards 1.

The ministry's draft service charter lists a biometric birth certificate and a Ghana Card among the documents for a new passport, with a marriage certificate or gazette notice for a change of name 6.

Applying from abroad

Fees abroad are set in local currency. The portal lists a regular 32-page passport at US$130 in the United States 3, £180 in the United Kingdom 4 and €120 in Germany 5.
