How the TZS 150,000 cost is split

The department's payment notice sets TZS 20,000 for the application form and TZS 130,000 for the passport. Together they make TZS 150,000 for an applicant in Tanzania ¹.

The fee notice is dated 31 January 2018. The e-Immigration portal, version 2026.7, still lists the TZS 20,000 form fee when checked on 19 October 2026 ^1,2. The portal does not display a different current passport charge ².

How to apply and pay

Start on the official e-Immigration portal. Enter the application details, upload the required records, check the information and accept the declaration ^2,3.

The portal then issues an application number, reference ID and payment control number. Pay using that control number. Print the completed form and submit it with the supporting records at the nearest immigration office ^2,3.

Documents listed by the portal

The portal lists the applicant's birth certificate, a parent's birth certificate or birth affidavit, the national identity card, a recent photograph with a light-blue background and evidence of travel or the applicant's activity ².

A previous passport is entered when the applicant has held one before. The form asks for guarantor details and an emergency contact ².

What the official pages do not state

The fee notice and current portal do not publish passport validity, page count, a separate child price, a separate renewal price or an express-service charge ^1,2. This page does not fill those fields from a travel agent or commercial service.

Applicants outside Tanzania should check the relevant Tanzanian embassy or consulate. The TZS 150,000 breakdown cited here is expressly for applicants who submit from within Tanzania ¹.
